CLOUD COMPUTING - INFRASTRUCTURE, APPLICATIONS AND OPERATIONS
Learn from the Cloud Computing Thought Leader Bernard Golden
Public cloud. Private cloud. Hybrid cloud. Cloud bursting. Scalability. Security. The buzz – and buzzwords – that accompany cloud computing make it one of the most confusing technology phenomena in the history of computing.
Cloud computing presents something of a dilemma: it is widely considered the next platform shift in computing, and crucial to the future of every IT organization, while at the same time is widely misunderstood with little guidance available regarding how to successfully use it. This course provides you with the tools to overcome that dilemma and create a cloud computing future for your organization, enabling you to compete – and succeed – in the coming future of information technology.
This comprehensive and highly interactive course provides you with a foundation to understand the key characteristics of cloud computing, along with a set of tools and an analytic framework so that you can determine what the right path is for your organization.
The course begins with an overview of the fundamentals of cloud computing, including foundation technologies and distinctive features of cloud computing. It then discusses the different applications of cloud computing, including common first uses of cloud computing. It addresses key concerns about cloud computing, including security, TCO, management frameworks, and software licensing. A live demonstration of cloud computing is given during the course.
A key question most organizations have about cloud computing is how to decide which type is right: public, private, hybrid, or outsourced. Day Two focuses on cloud deployment models and drills down into each type of cloud to illustrate strengths and weaknesses. Examples of each type of cloud are discussed in depth to enables attendees to understand the “how” of cloud computing.
Another critical topic often overlooked by companies seeking to take advantage of cloud computing is organizational change – the changes in process imposed by cloud computing along with the changes in organizational structure and employee skill sets required to succeed with cloud computing. Day two examines organizational change accompanying cloud computing and discusses how to prepare and execute it during the platform transition.
Knowledge without action is fruitless, so day three focuses on implementing a cloud computing action plan. Identifying the right initial application and how to implement and manage it for maximum organizational learning is explored in detail. The key differences between a skunk work project and a pilot project are described, along with why the right first project is a pilot program.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
This course provides a complete introduction to cloud computing, from describing its characteristics to teaching how to architect applications for cloud computing and what type of cloud is most appropriate to run those applications. Throughout the course interactive discussion between and among students and instructor is encouraged and fostered. Take this course to learn what your future information technology roadmap looks like.

TESTIMONIALS
“I took the Bernard Golden's Cloud Computing Workshop. I wasn't very sure when I registered for this workshop but it exceeded my expectations. Bernard and his team is well ahead of others players in cloud computing. What I learned about application architecture, dynamic resource allocation, and system management is directly relevant to our cloud computing initiative and is extremely valuable in making it more successful.”
Srinivas Yalamanchilli, Infrastructure Manager, Unilever
“I had the privilege of attending HyperStratus' 4 day course on cloud computing. It was extremely thorough, covering the pros and cons of many of the leading offerings, best practices for architecting cloud applications, and much more. Bernard is clearly an expert, and I have no hesitation recommending them for their knowledge in this area.”
Nenshad Bardoliwalla, Chief Technology Officer, Proferi
“I read Bernard's blog series on "The Case Against Cloud Computing" and consider it the best thinking I've ever read about cloud computing.”
Diego Garcia Carvajal, Professional Services Director, The Server Labs
